Fed: Qld firm reportedly imports filter system to wipe out Sars
A Queensland-based company has reportedly begun importing an air filtration devicewhich it claims wipes out any trace of the virus responsible for the deadly Severe AcuteRespiratory Syndrome.
The ABC website quotes Brandenberg Australia managing director JOHN TURNER as sayingthe steriliser recirculates air after it's destroyed the pathogens responsible for diseasessuch as legionnaires, golden staph and SARS.
Mr TURNER says health authorities will be offered the chance to assess the machinesfor use in hospitals.
The worldwide death toll from SARS has risen to 116 and the disease has infected nearly3,000 people.
The disease, which originated in southern China in November, hit Hong Kong in Marchand has been spread around the world by air travellers.
