Fed: PM denies he was committed to ending AWB monopoly

Prime Minister JOHN HOWARD denies he was ever committed to ending AWB's wheat export monopoly.

The federal government is also rejecting claims from a former intelligence officer
that it must have known about the 300 million kickback by AWB to the former Iraqi regime.

The denials come against the background of the Cole commission's inquiry into AWB over
the alleged kickbacks to SADDAM HUSSEIN'S regime .. under the guise of transport fees
to Jordanian company Alia.
